Hreiðar Mar Sigurdsson former CEO of Kaupthing Bank to the left and Robert Tchenquiz, largest debtor to Kaupthing Bank when it collapsed, to the right.
Robert Tchenquiz, London based business tycoon, and Kaupthing's largest debtor says that he doesn´t know what Hreidar Sigurdsson former CEO of Kaupthing has been arrested for. He says that he lost everything with the bank's collapse. Speaking with the foreign media Tchenquiz said that he doesn´t know what the special prosecutors investigation involves and in an interview with DV he said:
I can´t comment on what Hrediar did or didn't do. It is very difficult for me to discuss this. I don´t know why he was arrested. I don´t know anything about the case.
Robert added that he was in difficult situation since:
I lost all my money with the collapse of Kaupthing and I am suing the bank so I have to watch what I say.
Robert Tchenquiz was the bank's largest debtor when it collapsed in October 2008. Tchenguiz was also an indirect owner since he was one of the ten largest shareholders in Exista which in turn was the largest shareholder in Kaupþing.
